Props, graphic design and sound for your production
I offer custom-made props and basic set design for small to medium-sized stage productions. My designs are simple and quick to produce and will stand up to the rigours of show business! I like to make use of reclaimed items as much as possible and, as an actor myself, ensure they are safe and comfortable to use.

The Travesty of Richard III
A comic romp through Shakespeare's tale of plotting, prophecy and power... Penned by Helen Manners and me, this production required bold design and simple but tough props and staging so it could be packed up in a van and put on the road.
"A horse! A horse! My kingdom..." Well, you know the rest...
Hobby horses Alfredo and Joey starred in the final battle scene. They're made from stuffed hessian, wool, faux leather and wood, with button details.
Teddy and Dicky - the ill-fated Princes in the Tower. Played by giant spoons...
The roses of Lancaster and York - which then combined to form the Tudor Rose.
MDF with designed and printed faces protected by PVA.
A miniature "firing" cannon made from
MDF and a section of drain pipe.
Rufus the Court dog. Hessian and reclaimed
cloth over an MDF body. The neck 'breaks'
with a satisfying sound thanks to an internal
MDF and string swords.
The heads of Rivers and Grey. Painted card and dowel rods.
Queen Margaret and the Duke of Clarence stand in the Royal Court of the House of York. Painted MDF flats over folding frames with fabric detail (and reveal). The throne rolls on wheels and also features a Tower of London reveal. It easily breaks down into its component parts for easy get in/ get out.
Jack and the Beanstalk: Godalming's Professional Panto
This was a larger production and I was asked to provide a very simple and safe 'tip of the beanstalk' with clouds. I gave the client three options, which I've shown here. They chose the second one based on its cost-effectiveness combined with an element of a 3D effect. This was invoiced at £275 (price guide typical at December 2019)
I artworked the piece in Adobe Illustrator then had it printed large format. The image was glued to MDF and designed to be assembled quickly then stored flat.
It stood 4 feet high.
Guildford Fringe Theatre Company: The Adult Panto
Since 2015 to the present, I've had the pleasure of working with the successful Guildford Fringe Theatre company - both as an actor and a designer. Here is a selection of just some of the work I've created for them over these recent years.
Papier Maché ship's figure head of Theresa May
Fabric puppet replicas of members of the cast
Designs for three sea craft: These were artworked in Adobe Illustrator, printed large format and adhered to MDF
Transforming pumpkin/carriage with comedy single wheel! MDF and wood.
Woodland plants - lightweight MDF with handles used in a dance routine.
Giant story book. Based on an old ring binder with wood and aged paper.
Graphic design and branding for productions and events
